Both of the Junior C and Intermediate A weeks of CYL (the Co-operative Young Leaders Program) have donated the proceeds from their Snack Shack - the co-operative business they run while at camp - to supplies and education around HIV/AIDS in Ghana. I am to determine how it will most help once I am there and donate it. Such wonderful young people who want to make a difference, it's heartwarming. I will definitely be letting you seedlings/participants know what I am doing as soon as I know and get access to internet!!!
I am even more excited after the last session of camp (Int.A). One of the facilitators, Zach, brilliantly delivered a session on HIV/AIDS awareness and part of it is the video Stemming a Deadly Tide: the battle for Ghana which was made by CCA with the two interns who held Maya's & my positions two intakes ago. Watching that video again this year really geared me up and made me really excited to get out there.
I also got my itinerary for Training in Saskatoon from the 23rd to the 29th, as well as for both of my domestic flights (Ottawa to Toronto to Saskatoon and Saskatoon back to Toronto again). I leave Ottawa at 9:45am on Thursday, August 23rd and then Saskatoon at 6am on Wednesday, August 29th (ew to the really early morning flight!) Good thing I got a good travelling pillow at a store in Bolton (thanks for that advice Carlene!!!)
Speaking of pillows, I am beat. Still not quite caught up on sleep from two back to back weeks at camp. Long day tomorrow at Wonderland, so zzzs time for me!
